    Trunk Seals

Just ordered new tail light gaskets and a new trunk seal from Pelican Parts. I read somewhere that I should use silicon sealant in conjunction with the new trunk seal. Is this necessary / recommended? I don't want to get in too far over my head with this...

I wouldn't do that, unless you want to make a huge mess. There's no sealant from the factory in any case.

btw, how much was it? I got a seal off ebay about 4 years ago, and it was junk. It's already ripped and rusting in a couple spots (the rubber around the steel band has cracked). I need to replace it soon.

Got it from Pelican Parts for $38, plus two tail light gaskets for $26.50 (total).
