Painted my car... now it is... lol, jacked!

Well, my neighbor supposedly had painted before and swore my car would be a piece of cake... WRONG!

Gun was not set right and it is now striped. It has enough paint on it because he put about 6 coats.

My question is... can this be sanded starting around say a 1200 working up to about a 2000 to even the stripes? then can I follow it with a medium cut buff to fix the BS???

the car has signs of some decent spots, but the larger areas show the horror...

BTW... first time painting for me and maybe even him!

let it fully cure then wet sand it with something a little harsher... maybe even down to 1000 with a foam block. You should have plenty of thickness with 6 coats but WATCH YOUR CORNERS or protrusions... you will take it down to the primer like *that*.
PM if you are still having issues. I just finished my painting project out of my garage, you can check it out here

            good luck.

wet sand and buff, you should be fine...

what type of paint. If it is a urethane, start sanding NOW it will get hard as hell and will take 10x more effort to sand.

If it is enamel, let it cure for 1 mo then sand.

yea that looks straight if u got 6 coats of clear wet sand real nice so the areas are flat once u wash and dry it, it should be dull color and buff and polish it would look really good when done

I could have got better results out of a spray can.
Id sand that shit all back down and just shoot it again. For the time you would waste on that you would need to spray more clear anyways.

Your going to have to sand and respray. The problem with stingle stage is you need to lay the last two coats really wet to the car looks soaked.
You going to run into a lot of problems wet sanding that out..
