    anyone on 14' alloys?!

hey. This may seem stupid, but my insurance goes up waaay too much if i put larger rims on my e30, and was wondering if anyone rides 14'' alloys on theirs? any pics would be good to see what it looks like before i consider doing it! One last thing - i got chrome bumpers on my '86 model at the moment, and want to do something about them without spending loads on a full kit. how easy is it to paint them or fit other plastic bumpers, and what year plastic bumpers will fit an ''86 model?

You wont be able to fit a plastic bumper on the rear without major modifications to the bumper. I'm sure you'd be able to trade chrome bumpers for a set of plastic on this forum though... I know I'm in need of a rear. PM me if you have one you'd like to sell.

My 325i has 14" basketweaves on it that came on the 318is/325is.

Sorry, that's not the greatest picture, it's all I have at the moment.

Jordan has done a really nice write-up on early-model bumper conversions

also, here's another not-so-great pic of 14" basketweaves

tuck the diving boards...randomtask had this done on his e30...search around and im sure you will find some pics of both the rims and tucked divingboard....the plastic bumpers are gonna be expensive i think $1200 to have them professionally installed...im sure jordan will chime in because he has been through this already.........

also you can do euro bumpers like many did with the diving boards.......

Insurance finds out through things like VAT and MOT dont they???
14" basketweaves are ok. Light, pain to clean but light.

I've got the 14 weaves, I don't like them (the size, I love the style). I'm getting euro weaves soon.

yer, my bumpers are the metal ones, but not the diving board style - they dont have the plastic around the edges - they are just lumps of metal sticking out of my car! im thinkin about painting them and possible tucking them after, what do you think?

You can't tuck the early chrome european bumpers; they don't have shocks. The idiot above just isn't paying attention the other posts in this thread.

My advice is to take off the bumpers, disassemble them and have them painted bodycolor. Then get some new hardware for them as yours if probably rusted out (just like the ones I got from the UK) and bolt them back together.
