unfortunately no, i have been swamped with work and school.

im kinda scared now to cut the bumper, cuz now i her fiberglass wont hold it together. So i dont know what i would use.

i got a "Cowcathcer" air damn for free last night so, im gonna put that on for now.

im very close with the e36 bumper. i just have to mount it properly on one side and trim the excess off the other side. its just i cant get a hold of a good drill with a good bit to go through the metal.

    more pics will come

I suggest you abort this project, or pay a professional to do it.

You have absolutely NO idea what you're doing.

i know what im doing, i have everything lined up and measured. I know where to cut and how much to cut off. Everything sits flush (the e36 curve at top of bumper was cut and fiberglassed straight like an e30).

The only thing stopping me from finishing is no time in my schedule (work & school= 8am-12am) and no drill, so i havent even been thinking about it, or thinking of some other method of bonding together plastic.

I don't see why everybody is a hater on this board... Let him do it, i hope it turns out and he does a write up, it could be a cool diving board killer. I think everybody just needs to chill the fuck out and stop being so pompus about stuff that you dont agree with or dont think will work. Everybody is a flamer here and it drives me nuts. We should give him constructive advice instead of telling him he doesnt know what hes doing and calling him stupid. I was under the impression people came here for help with projects so they could learn from other people's experience and gain their own...

            That being said...

It seems like Jordan could help out with this one. What did he use to attach your m3 rear skirt to his plastic bumper?

i am curious about what jordan did, too. i was always sceptical about bonding plastic with fiberglass. he had to chop that m3 rear apron in half and bond it together. i thought he used fiberglass, like he used on the corners of his plastic bumper swap.

                That comment sucks.

Look man, see if you can rent a plastic welder. I have fiberglassed plastic, it depends on how much you are fiberglassing it together and where, also how much the piece is expected to flex.

Maybe even run a piece of metal (flatbar) or something along the parts that are to be reatched counter sink screws into the top (bondo over it) and then bolt into this flatbar.

Im just tossing out ideas since a lot of people on this board either:
                a) Feel like they are the only ones capable of doing custom fabrication and everyone else has "no idea"
b)Know they are not capable of doing it so assume others can't either
                c)Just suck :P

If anything put it aside and get to it later.

                Sold it.

All I'm saying is that I would NEVER attempt to do this kind of major fabrication unless I knew the exact methods and materials to use to do it.

I'll admit, saying he had no idea what he was doing was harsh, but you've got to agree with what I just said above.

Hes on the forum to learn to do stuff like this though. Any positive feedback and ideas he can get from other users will help. I can understand burning somebody that wants to put a big gross ebay fiberglass kit on their car, but this guy is trying to do something most people wouldn't because of the exact reason you just said. Learning while you go is great, just as long as you go back and fix your mistakes once you learn you made a mistake.

I think we're on to something with the metal bars. I'm sure there are resources on the interweb that teach you to use a plastic welder. You might want to look into seeing if you can rent one, or find one to use... if you can cut it down to the exact specs you need, you may want to consider just going to a body shop that has one, and letting them do the welding work. it might be cheaper than you think.

so now he's got a e36 bumper on his car and a rear diving board. yummm

you don't learn the stuff he's trying to do on the internet if you could no one would go to a body tech trainning school, everyone would do it on their own.

fiberglass does not flex, that bumper is going to flex like a bitch...
jordans rear difuser was not attached it was moulded, if everone put as much effort into a project as Jordan did then there wouldn't be a problem it's people who do things half assed that piss me off

                      like aboved mentioned project

my father and his father havent been running a body shop for 40 years and do custom work on hot rods and retorations. i've probably never spent anytime in it, no wait i've been working they're off and on since i was 9, but fuck i don't have a clue about fabrication.
