Some Scruffy E24 trunks get better...

We shot the new "How To" video for GlossHaus, and as part of our single stage section, we used two really scruffy trunks from E24 M6's (which makes me sad). The black one had been stored outside with a brake rotor on it :(

Believe it or not, this is cleaned with IPA and Quick Detailer...

Rough Cut - polished with GlossHaus Foundation I aggressive polish only on the top half. Most of the rotor marks came out.

A shot of the whole area done with all steps (GlossHaus Foundation I, Foundation II, Foundation III, Glaze and GlossHaus Perfect Carnauba wax). The pollen was coming down like rain, so I moved inside...

    Another "rough cut" shot indoors

Full-process area shot - pretty amazing recovery:

Next up, the red E24 trunk. Not nearly as oxidized, but not good at all:

Swirls in the uncorrected but clean area:

Strip between the rough cut (Foundation I only) and the full-process area

This is the rough cut - huge improvement, lots more to go!

A 50/50 to compare the rough cut to no correction:

A 50/50 to compare fully corrected to no correction:

    Fully corrected: :)

Wow, good job. I just buffed my car all over, it came out great but I think I can do better now that I see this. :)
WTB late model, anywhere on the east coast will go as far west as Texas for the right car at the right price. 5 speed 6cyl only.

        What buffer are you using?

Alpine white will be similar - it hides swirls better than black and red. Comes out really soft-looking...

A Makita 9227C. I used a 3M pad, a foam one with dimples in it and Perfect-It 3 compound. It came out great, removed all the oxidation but didn't take out the heavier scratching and marks like your work did.

Yeah - there is a big advantage to matching pads with products and having multiple steps. Frankly, I wasn't sure when I looked at the red hood after the first polish (using the GlossHaus Foundation I polish and the matching yellow pad) that I'd get all the swirls out without a repeat pass, but at the end of glaze step it really looked fantastic. Be a little careful with your Makita - I love my Porter Cable and my Flex XC 3401 and they don't worry me like true orbitals do.

            The steps were:
            Clean with IPA and Claybar.
GlossHaus Foundation I with Yellow pad - 1 pass - meaning 1 session with the product.
Foundation II with Orange pad - 1 pass
Foundation III with Orange pad - 1 pass
GlossHaus Glaze with White pad - 1 pass (this "jewels" the paint so it is optically flat and really helps the wax get that deep look)
GlossHaus Perfect Carnauba Wax with Black pad.

I actually did a youtube video of the black panel:

(this was my perseonal flipcam - we're doing a professional version of it that was shot with two other cameras)

            It was fun stuff!

I might try and get some more compounds and pads and hit it again. All I did was run over it real quick with an old 3M prewax paint cleaner then hit it with the Perfect-It 3. Then I waxed it by hand with some 3M carnuba. Like I said, I was real happy with the outcome but it didn't take out some of the heavier marks. The car needs paint though, there are small chips all over the place so sooner or later I will just bite the bullet and paint it. I'm much better at shooting new paint than I am at fixing old. :)

I'm a big fan of Dr. Colorchip. Once you get the hang of it, it is really a nice product, especially vs. regular touchup paint.
