Average cost of a good paint job?

Looking to change up the Bronzit in favor of a dark grey metallic color. Dunno what though. Maybe try that Diamond Schwarizzle stuff. Either way, I want to paint my car, but that will all depend on the cost to do so. I recall some people in the past saying that if I do all the prepping before taking it to a shop, it helps. I dont even know whats involved in prepping.

So what can I expect to pay for a good quality paint job?

$3,000-5,000 especially for a color change.

That sounds about right. I had a quote done for mine as if I was going to bring it as-is to a guy who does nothing but Euro cars. He quoted me 3400.00 to strip it down and do a total re-paint. He said it would be less depending on how much prep work I did.

I think that it would be on the low end if they didnt have to fix any dents or strip it. I know quite a few places and people that would paint my bronzit car(hopefully not out of pitty). But I found a media blaster in my area and he said that he would strip my car and any other small parts that I needed cleaned for 500.

3000 to 5000 is right, if you don't know anything about prep i'd advise not doing it, you can make more work for the body man, by full color change i hope you mean gutting the car completely and reassembly, similar to Jordan's project..... FFT

That sounds right. I was not going for a color change. By "prep" I should say that I was talking about removal of parts - taillights, grills, trim, windshield, etc. Also taking bumpers off so they are painted separately.

Anything I would do as far as sanding and dent removal would suck ass and they would end up redoing it.
