    Removing sunroof.

Can anyone just give me any tips on what to watch out for or be extra careful with when taking out the sunroof? Its gonna be my first time removing one and I dont want to be breaking any pieces that im gonna need to reuse.

    Thanks.

Whatever you do, don't get pissed at the headliner piece on the sunroof. I did...and it's bent to hell now. This was on my parts car, so I didn't care.

Just take it easy, and read the directions in the Bentley carefully.

it's easy, and you don't have to completely remove the headliner either. first, open the sunroof part way. pry the front edge of the headliner down. close the sunroof , and slide the headliner back. now you can easily remove the sunroof panel.

I don't have a bentley manual, thats my problem, I was just gonna figure it out as i went step by step.

Yeah I was told the headliner is really the only problem the rest is just a matter on unscrewing, how is the headliner piece held on, clips?

I never could figure it out. So, I just grabbed a pliers and bent it to hell... :?

I can't do it now, maybe tomorrow - but I can type up waht's in teh Bentley.

Nando is almost right on though, from what I remember.

Got it, its not too hard its just clips so you gotta pry from right where they stick out to not bend it. However didnt get the actual sunroof on, do you guys know what size bit i need to get at those bolts? Im gonna have to go buy one i thought i had the right sizes but turns out i dont.

I don't remember. I'm not sure if it was a hex or a star key either. and I'm not tearing into mine to find out :P

and buy a damn bentley already!

                  It's a T-25.

I'm doing the same project as we speak. Not because there is rust, but because the sunroof switch timing is off (how many of us have had that problem?!). I'm lubing the cables and guides that retract the panel. That's really the only reason the sunroof is coming off.

The switch timing is a whole other story. This will be the third or fourth time I've resynced the switch. Seems to keep going out of sync after a month or so of usage. Anyone had this problem or just want to guess why? I'm thinking the cables are stretched. Sound logical?

                    to remove sunroof

first slide it back about 1/4-1/3 of the way. There are six or so clips in the front that attach the headliner panel to the sunroof panel. use a large flap object (recommneded) i used my hands to seperate the two (the clips are right up front). Once the panel is disconnected close the sunroof. Once its closed push the headliner panel back into the roof (toward rear seat) this will expose the sunroof panel. Now use the tilt function which will allow you to get to the six torx screws that hold it in place. Remove panel.

sebster i have a great condition schwarz panel if you are interested. The paint isn't great but there is no rust. It doesn't have a seal on it anymore. however the paint is okay for a roof panel. i'll polish it up for you if you want it 50+shipping. email me for pics davy_dave@hotmail.com

BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE SIX STUPID TORX BOLTS.

They have a NASTY tendency to strip....and it AIN'T easy to get them out when they do.

Ask me how I know... :)

TAKE YOUR TIME with them, make sure you're COMPLETELY inside the torx hole with the bit, and push hard against the bolt as you turn. With some luck, you'll get them out. If not...well, lets just say it's a headache:)

Ok once the panel's off, how do i remover everything else. I mean the deflector, the little arms on the sunroof, and the metal frame that goes around the opening of the hole. Ive got most of it out but i cant get to the screws under the deflector to get the front of the frame free. HELP.
