Whats up with the 325ix sideskirts?

Might be getting my hands on a 325ix. Not a very big fan of the stock sideskirts that come with it. How hard is it to take them off... i dont know much about ix's, but i figure they are part of the fender flares. What kind of info can you guys give me on this? Thanks in advance, Dave

if you take them off, the car will look like it sits even higher. they hide about 1/2" of ride height and fender gap. they also protect the rockers from stone chips (the ix has more track).

yes but when you drop it and remove the sideskirts, it will still look like a 4x4. the ix doesn't go as low as other E30s..

Hey nando, i was doing some searching on the forum about ix's and i found out you actually have one. I read some stuff you posted about suspension upgrades, and i really dont know how that makes me feel about buying an ix. Are they highly sought after cars, especially ones that are 2dr. and that boston green bmw color. How much is one thats in decent to good condition with 177K on the clock and manual worth?

177k, being a 5 speed? I'd say $3500-4500, depending on condition. and yes they are sought after - maybe not by the crowd that typically comes here, but I come across people all the time who are looking for one but can't find any. 5 speed 2drs are harder to find, but realistically any ix in good shape can command a premium. people offer to buy mine left and right, even being a 4-door auto!

is there a reason you wanted AWD? if it snows a lot where you live, I'd consider leaving it stock. even being lowered my car is great in the snow, but getting high centered on a snow drift sucks. :P
