    Powdercoating

I'm gonna be refinishing the wheels on my car doing polished lips with gloss black centers and I was wondering if you can have powdercoating done in gloss black, if they will powdercoat just the centers, and if you need to clearcoat after you powdercoat.

    TIA

They can powdercoat any color, even faux polished look. They don't need to be cleared.

So not worth it for a set of cheap weaves.

i believe your a supposed to have them polished before powerdercoat because of how hot they get when polishing. You may or may not know that but just make sure you do things in the right order. Or atleast find out what the right order may be.

I found a place that will do it for $30 a wheel, but they told me that doing black centers and polished lip would be really tough. He said that he cannot mask off the polished parts and that after the wheel is powdercoated it would take me 3-4 hours a wheel to sand down to where I can polish the lips. Is this true or was he blowing smoke? Has anybody tried going this route for black center polished lip wheels?

A good wheel shop can do what you want but its going to cost closer to $100, not $30. I would never want to take on polishing off a lip that has been powdercoated black.

They are stock rims, just spray bomb them, who cares.

What? You are saying $75-100 is too much money, that IS the r3v way.

No, I'm just sayin that a set of wheels that is worth about $150 is not worth spending $350-400 in paint. That is the smart investor way. If I was gonna spend that kind of money I would sell both set of weaves I have (1 stock 1 msw) and buy some k1s or kopis.

I recently had my wheels powder coated.
Didn't cost me anything because my neigbour is mates with a powder coater.
here's a pic.. I'll post one of them on the car once the car is back on the road.

That finish kind of looks like a matte primer...? Awesome rims though.

It's a shiny silver colour same as when they first came out.
I could have got them polished and I think it may have looked better but considering it was free I just went back to the original colour.
