What do you mean by a front panel? A front valance?

I buy the front valance and lip if you dont need em. How much.. Also it is a real bitch to fabricat the 88+ valance to fit on an early e30

im so confused, you have a 1987 325i and you bought an 88+ front valence(the textured sheetmetal deal) and an is front lip?

if thats right i dont think it will even fit on your car let alone mate up with the bumpers without gaps

I'm pretty sure the valance will bolt right up, actually... you just need to find a plastic bumper to mount to it.

Now comes the first step of the reconstruction. Take your 88+ front valance and fit it to the front of your e30. This panel is a direct bolt on part, no modification is needed to the valance. However you will need to remove both tow loops on the front of your car. Use a hacksaw, or a cutoff wheel. Whatever works best for you.
Taken from Jordan's article. I think he'd know. God-damned misinformation.

Those are 88+ cabrio bumpers. The 88+ cabrio cars came with the diving board style bumpers and the newer front valance. Hence the reason plastic bumpers are a few bolts away for those cars.
