bumper just got skewed after tow

.......had my car flat bedded yesterday and since frt tow hook was attached( from my DE season)....I agreed to have hook up done via the tow hook. The driver seemed to do it smooth enuf but I saw the bumper was actually pulled away from body a bit . Why would that happen????? Its not terrible, but damn its enuf to get pissed. Any ideas short of paying a body shop ?....Ive even thought of padding bumper and pressing car into a wall utilizing first gear! I KNOW HOW STUPID THAT SOUNDS. You try so f in hard to keep a car straight and then stupid shit happens........

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't that hook go through the bumper and in to the chassis?

I had my car towed usign that hook and had no problems

I can assure you 100% that those tow hooks are part of the actual chasis and are not attached to the bumper in any way... I just cut up my euro shell and I was looking... they are solidly part of the chasis.

tow hook is the front of the bumper shock. Any chance the shock had been compressed previously? Otherwise, any chance the bumper shock was not tightened down to the frame rail all the way?

correct....its the frt "thread on" tow hook thats threaded into bumper thru a notched window in bumper( 90 325i)......and yes these hooks thread into the bumper shock!.....bad design. I always assumed car was never hit, but who knows if the bumper had ever been compressed and then fixed?????? Im going to try a rubber mallet directly on tow hook end....and then I could always drive into a wall........

this happened to my car, I was stuck on a 2' snowdrift and a guy in a huge truck pulled me off :)

afterwards the bumper wasn't quite lined up right, but I assume (or hope) it's something that could be adjusted (it's not a big enough amount to really be noticeable anyway).

wow, same thing happened to me. I blew up my diff and had to have a flatbed take it home. Hooked it up and everything seemed fine until he kept winching the car down by the front hook. It tucked the front wheels! This was like 2am and i didnt notice when we unloaded it into my garage. the next morning when i came out and noticed the bumper sat out about two inches. i was pissed! It bent the bumper shock and the actual part of the frame where the mount bolts in. It also cracked my mtech bumper in the process! Im still duking it out with AAA at the moment. Theres supposed to come out and look at it this thursday. BASTIDS!!!!

i have some pics somewhere as well. ill see if i cant find them
