I have a 1991 318is. Plan on getting the iS lip spoiler for the front. See picture attached. I don't like the black so I plan on color matching the front, side skirts, and rear lip. Can someone who has all lips painted post pictures? Why do most people just leave them black? I just don't think it flows if you just paint the front lip.
Question about painting iS lip

Pic of mine:

I tend to like black lips when going with no side skirts and leaving/refreshing factory black paint on skirt and rear valence areas. Otherwise - a color-matched lip on such a car gives a kind of 'snow plow' look.
In interest of bringing body lines 'downward' my preference is toward color-matched lip, skirts, and rear valence..
Fwiw, I used paint ordered from automotivetouchup with good results. My only regret was not putting a clear coat on it.. because after a few months - the lip was riddled with little rock chips.Comment

thanks guys for the reference pics. I have the brilliantrot. Prob get it professionally painted. I have painted using the harbor freight gun but that was on a beater.
Another question is if I wanted to get the iS side skirts does it use the same mount holes as the stock trim?

I like the paint matched iS front lip, that's how they came from the factory. :)
The iS skirts can be bought from anybody who sells BMW parts. There is a sticky thread with part numbers and mounting info in the General Cosmetics forum.Comment

Paint the lip for sure. Plus, at night it makes the car stand out a little bit more (a good or a bad thing).Comment
