Drain under the battery tray in trunk?

So while replacing the battery today, I decided to pull the battery tray out to see what I could find under it. All I found was a drain tube that poked out into the bottom of the well. Where does it connect to? Here's a pic:

Yes, there should be a nipple on your battery to vent gases. Connect the hose to it. If your battery is sealed then i don't think there is a vent.

I found one there as well - with 90 degree rubber tube piece at the end. Same thing I assume?
