I'm in the process of using this product to restore mine:
How to easily Refinish oxidized aluminum How to Easily Refinish Oxidsized Black moldings on BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, and all cars with Oxidation on Anodized Aluminum anodized aluminum.
I still have a ways to go on them before I'll be satisfied, but I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with how it's coming out so far. Mine are all off the car. I'll post some pics and more details in the near future.
Call and talk to Paul if you have questions. He's happy to answer them - super nice guy. Feel free to mention me!Comment

Here are a couple of shots from my phone. Not the best quality pics but you can still see a difference. The top piece is from the front bumper surround - it has been removed from the car, cleaned and wet sanded. The bottom piece is the one that spans across the top of the rear bumper - it has been removed from the car, cleaned, wet sanded and then had several coats of the rebuilder product applied, wet sanding with P800 every three coats.

I should add that the pieces pictured were both extremely faded, pitted and rough to the touch. Pics of those pieces before I pulled them from the car may be in my build thread.Comment

I hit mine with some red scotchbrite and painted it with trim black. Looks pretty good and seems to be holding up.S52-Powered 1987
