    Lower body trim enhancing

I have an early model 325i and have the big black plastic trim along the sides. What is the best thing to improve the look of this? Looks alittle faded and I want to renew the look

Peanut butter, olive oil, or trim paint.

It's always a good time when the olive oil comes out.
Never tried back to black, but it has to be a good product I assume.

^Seems weird I know but it takes the oxidation off of unfinished rubber and plastic really well. It's also awesome for cleaning dirty tool handles.

I think it depends on the extent of your damage. I wiped down my bump strips with it- a bunch of black nasty came off and they've been properly shiny for months with no visible change. Another bonus is that it doesn't leave any oily residue behind.

I'm in the process of using this product to restore mine:

How to clean oxidized aluminum by Paul Miller Aluminum BMW oxidation on anodized exterior moldings on BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, and all cars with faded anodized aluminum.

I still have a ways to go on them before I'll be satisfied, but I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with how it's coming out so far. Mine are all off the car. I'll post some pics and more details in the near future.

Call and talk to Paul if you have questions. He's happy to answer them - super nice guy. Feel free to mention me!

Here are a couple of shots from my phone. Not the best quality pics but you can still see a difference. The top piece is from the front bumper surround - it has been removed from the car, cleaned and wet sanded. The bottom piece is the one that spans across the top of the rear bumper - it has been removed from the car, cleaned, wet sanded and then had several coats of the rebuilder product applied, wet sanding with P800 every three coats.

I should add that the pieces pictured were both extremely faded, pitted and rough to the touch. Pics of those pieces before I pulled them from the car may be in my build thread.

I hit mine with some red scotchbrite and painted it with trim black. Looks pretty good and seems to be holding up.

Turtle wax has a million different products....in my experience back to black sucks.
