    Shiiiiiiiiiiit.

I got an angle grinder at the Harbor Freight today and opened this previously one inch hole up to what you see in these pictures - and there's more rot at the bottom. I'm bummed man.

I have never even seen a welder in real life. Fo real. Homie I can't weld. And then I would want to find a donor car to cut replacement metal out of, where am I gonna get that?

Step 1: Cut good panel from junkyard car.

Step 2: Make thread on R3v offering free beer in exchange for welding services. (free beer to be consumed only after welding has been completed)

          Step 3: Repeat as necessary.

Welding is fun and simple, you can learn to do a damn proper weld in a night's worth of fucking around.

Okay, so what kind of welder should I get? I have a Sawzall, I can hopefully find a car to rip some panels off of.

What kinda welder do I need...will something like this work?

Edit: I think this would be a better welder?

Why the hell would you start grinding away a rust hole if you don't know how, or who, to weld? Just buy a plate of sheet metal and do your best with used chewing gum?

                Ask for local help man.

Seeing that you dont have any welding, grinding, or cutting experience, I would definitely seek the help of someone else to do it. It seems like you dont even know the difference between arc, mig and tig. Anyone can weld a bead on a peice of flat stock with a few hours of practice but try working in tight places at weird angles and most people will f**k up. Its always way more work then you think.

I'd take MoreMayhem's advice...Keystone light or PBR....jk, that might get you a shitty weld

I'll buy basically whatever beer if the job gets done right. It's going to be a lot of work.

I had the same issue on my old E30. Find a shop that does rust repair/restorations. They'll fab some new metal and weld it in place. It'd probably cost you less than a MID welder.
