Painting soon - OEM Rear color?

So I've got my silver IX ready to go in for some paint all around, and I am not sure what to do with the rear section behind rear wheel. Mine came with black at the very bottom under the bumper.

Does anyone have pics or opinions what would look better, black or body color?

if you are going to body color it, you should have matching rockers or side skirts in the same color scheme... otherwise it would look off

i had my silver iX painted last yr. Came back from paint w/ the lowers silver. I'm a stickler for keeping things the way the came out of the factory (at least when it comes to paint)....and i ended up spraying it myself w/ self-etched primer & black SEM Trim paint. Its' a tough call b/c it flows well w/ the iX flares w/ it body-colored. To me i liked the black plastic bumper trim + the black rear valence trim painted black which seemed to compliment each other when looking at the rear.

Balls. They both look good. Maybe I will have them paint it and then just go over it with black if I do not like it.

Save for yor sweet rims, our cars are going to look so much alike! You have good taste my friend!

You could always plastidip it black, then it'll be reversible.

two questions about your rear area.

                  1) the muffler is a superspritn replica yes? If so, how did you get it to mount so high up against the valence without the piping rubbing against the rear subframe

                  2) regarding the rear trunk plate... did you put anything in between it and the paint? when I had mine, the plate trim scratchedu p my new paint!

                    Answers: ;)

                    1) the muffler is the Remus 90mm tips exhaust specific to the E30....as far as mounting....the good thing about Remus, is they come w/ new mounting hardware for the muffler, so it doesn't retain any of the muffler mounting brackets. The Remus bracket is a well built piece, and allows the muffler to sit higher than the stock brackets. In addition, i bought all new rubber mounts holding the muffler brackets & center pipe. That made a huge difference in having it tucked up that high......initially i hadn't changed those rubber mounts post Remus-install, and it was crooked.....the new mounts made all the difference (see link below of my original post)

It gets close to the subframe, but never hits it. It only touches when the car is jacked up....but on the ground it clears it fine.

                    2) as far as the plate trim, i don't believe i put anything in between. If i did, it prob was some double-stick mounting tape, but i honestly can't remember. I do remember removing the plastic grommets that the stock plate screws, screwed into....i wanted the filler plate to sit more flush, and those 4 grommets didn't allow me to do so....so i removed them, and used two screws & nuts (on the back side) to hold it in.....siliconed the bottom holes too. How bad are the marks on your car?

last post before I continue thread jacking, but my marks are pretty bad. It's down to the primer but thats with the US trim piece. It really presses itself up against the trunk trim panel. I'm getting another respray soon so I want to take precautions if I am to do this again.

maybe try to wedge a towel or soemthing in between? I forget what the back side of the filler plate looks like....but are there raised sections that are leaving the marks? I prob would try to cut sections of mounting tape into squares....and layer them up to a point where the filler plate trim doesn't make contact w/ the paint.....that way protecting it. I did something similar to my license plate on my old Infiniti since the bass from my subwoofer at the time was creating a rattling noise w/ the plate hitting the paint.
