Hole fill on metal valance, doing it myself, tips?

I have a perfect metal valance that I need to prep and paint, was going to do it myself as I've had a little experience doign this on smaller parts, but both sides of the valance has a 3/8" diameter hole in it from a previous body kit.

My thought was to epoxy or jb weld a backer piece on the inside and then fill/sand with bond before I prime the bumper, doesn't have to be perfect for me and since its an Alpine car any minor imperfections will be hard to see anyway.

Is this a decent plan or is there something better I should try, I am trrying to handle this myself without welding but I have access to a stick welder if the right answer is to cut a piece of steel and tack it in before covering with bondo.

    Thanks!

go with your gut and do it correctly, you can tack it from the back side if needed.

      Exactly.

Weld that shit up and grind it down. Do it right the first time and take pride knowing you won't have problems later.

no bondo my friend. find a buddy of yours who can weld, then grind it smooth with the rest of the metal.
