    Vinyl wrapping a hardtop

Has anyone done this yet? Ive seen painted ones and they dont look too bad. I assume they may look similar but any positives or negatives of doing it?

Damn, I should do mine in matte black or maybe something a bit more unique. Any ideas?

If you peel back the OEM skin you will find a porous skeleton and I do not think vinyl will stick to it very well.

        hmmm

thats what i was thinking, matte black too. i have a calypsorot so i figured matte black would be the only way to go. anything other than that would make it look like im tryin too hard. i guess it all depends on the color of the car.

its not even molesting it. the reason why id consider putting vinyl wrapping is because the hardtop i have isn't really visually pleasing. i figured if putting a vinyl wrap would actually protect it more from uv and other elements

I think that the hardtops look crappy in canvas

put vinylex on the oem skin. protects it from uv rays, and makes it new again.

You would need to paint it first if you wanted to wrap it. Wrapping cast is not going to stick to the top after you peel back the OEM vinyl cloth.

Vinyl is great for trying new colors or protecting paint. Just make sure you use something like 3M 1080 series or Oracal 970RA. Do your homework.

So many inquisitive vinyl ideas for e30's lately...

I agree.. canvas would remind me of a retirement community parking lot.
