Installation of our plug will be similar to that one above.
Updates coming tonight. I was gone for a few days so we're just now getting around to making the mold. I'll post progress pics in a few.Leave a comment:

The panel is only about 10lbs. the cassette that houses the entire sunroof setup is closer to 30lbs.. I have removed both.Leave a comment:

i thought it was just a metal piece. i guess i dont know e30s. i thought the difference would be a few gramsLeave a comment:

absolutely...I couldn't care less about the weight, but I've been through two panels because of the damn rust.Leave a comment:

The factory sunroof panel alone most certainly does NOT weight 30lbs. Id guess 5 to 10 pounds, maybe even a little less.Leave a comment:

I have a manual sunroof. The panel alone weighs a good 30lbs. The cf replacement will be roughly 1-3lbs. That and its an alternative to having to replace a rusty panel with another metal one that will most likely do the same thing.Leave a comment:

so its a functional carbon fiber run roof...
how much weight can that possibly save? you still have all the mechanisms to open it right? if it were something like t-tops i would understandLeave a comment:

and I like this idea of a functional CF sunroof, pending final productLeave a comment:

Glad these are getting vac bagged. I'm not a fan of brittle resin-rich parts.
Something you may find easier is to lay a large thick clear plastic sheet/ industrial garbage bag down on a workbench with the carbon on top, pour your matrix, cover it over with another plastic sheet, and work the resin through the fibre with plastic squeegees until its all saturated. Once done, peel the plastic off and lay it in place.
Pretty much eliminates the chance of pulling any fibres, and lets you see any areas that aren't fully saturated.Leave a comment:

In for the diffuser... I always wanted to buy an s2k diffuser and test fit it to my e30...
Also in for the IS splitterLeave a comment:
