    Finally in the shop.

After all my spare time since mid-December my 1991 318is is in the shop for paint. Original Diamondschwarz. I've scuffed it up with wet 320, removed trim, glass, and the sunroof gaskets. I even bought a new front bumper fascia and original "is" lower lip. I'm getting it final prepped and painted for $1500 by Ricky Ricardo (actually Ricardo Rodriguez) at Ricky's Body Shop. I picked the shop because of the price and I've seen his work on lowriders - hey, the guy can paint.

$1500 for a complete spray is pretty good...

I need to get the same done on my old 318is. It'll happen after school I imagine.

                  Painted!

Saw the car at the shop today and it looks really good. Getting glass in on Monday and I'll have it Wednesday after final buff and clean up. Then I can buy all those little plastic pieces that broke during disassembly. The shop is in Austin, TX, new home of Jordan, a real "people" person.

                      Return of the...

It's back.I have about a weeks worth of work to cleanup, detail, and reinstall trim. Now all of my bumper trim looks old and faded and the black shadowline shows it's age. Every new thing makles the rest look old. It's could very easily become the never ending story. The paint does look good.
The few small imperfections are due to incompatibility of materials. A high quality primer is a necessity. Auto part store spray cans just don't do it. If you do this yourself and don't have a compressor and gun, get a reusable spray can from

Stand back when they tell you the cost. Ask the body shop what brand to use.
I really will get them pics up when the sun shines and it's back together. It rained today and I kept looking out the window at it.

                          Here's some pics.

It was sunny today so I took a couple of pics of the repaint. About $2000 total as I had to have a new "is" lip and a few other things. It still needs a few trim pieces and the coilovers installed. Next week is spring break and my daughter's boyfriend is a car nut football player. Translation - "muscle".
Front springs are 350# and rear 450#. It's a kit for an E36 that I am modifying to fit the E30. It needs to come down just a bit for the wheels to fill the openings.

                            M-A-C DADDY!!!

nice paint... D/S looks awesome when it's fresh (and not coated with salt)

looks great man... my 2 cents... as if you asked...

                            - euro bumper trim, deletes those sidemarkers
                            - ellipsoid headlights (I have an extra pair if you choose to go that route)

                            congrats man, really nice car

                              more mods.

I go back and forth about keeping it original and doing a few more mods - I.E. The Never Ending Story. I still have the clean 14" weaves just in case. I have thought about the headlights though. right now they are 5001 and 5006 generic auto parts store replacements. Is the the lack of sidemarkers legal in the states?. Do the ends fit with the center rear that I now have or do I need all 5 pieces?
