    Repainting E30 Trim

    Hey guys;

    I'm in the midst of repainting my car and I'm wondering how to get the matte black finish that is on the window and drip rail trim?

    Clear coat will obviously make them all shiny, is there a satin/matte coat?

    Here's the car, for fun.

    People spray paint, but the dealer also sells them in black.

      Wurth Satin Black Trim Paint

      I refinished all the top chrome to black it out on my vert with this stuff over a year ago. Not one scratch or chip or flake. I used it on all the rubber trim on the bumpers, door guards, etc., made everything look fresh from the box new. Prep is everything, use a self etching primer then like 2 light coats of the Wurth .... you'll be impressed!

        Dang! A Wurth guy came by my business the other day. All we buy is their lubes and primers. Didn't even think to ask!

          I used sem euro black on my trim with their adhesion promoter. Looks good so far, goes on the car in the next couple of weeks.

            I've used Plastic dip on my Euro grills, chrome headlight trims and the trims on the doors. Not one chip in just under a year.

              SEM Trim paint is a near perfect match for the OEM satin black trim

                Apparently Wurth doesn't sell the Trim Paint in Canada, however, I'm going to wait to hear back from my distributor, if he can get some special ordered.

                I'll look into SEM if that doesn't work out.

                Either way, I'm hitting it all right now with some Self Etching Primer in preparation.

                Thanks for the input guys!
