    Wurth wheel paint... Wtf?

    So after sanding my euroweaves for the last 5 days, which mind you was a complete pita I successfully primed them and got in the mail the wurth silver wheel paint and clear so I tried that after work.

    I don't know if my can is defective or what but the paint is extremely textured as it lays, it doesn't even seem like the right amount of paint is coming out.

    Anyone else have issues with this paint? Am I doing something wrong?

    Pic is huge so I don't want to post on here. Not nearly light enough grey. Where it splattered (nozzle sucks) you can tell it looks right unlike the rest of the rim. So that's why I think there's not enough paint coming out....

    What temperatures are you spraying at? It appears there is not enough solvent in the finish. If you're spraying in a HOT HOT garage then it's possible the solvent is flashing before it reaches the wheel.

        I attempted to spray this in my house since it was 90+ outside here and it came out exactly the same. Ill try giving it another shot today

          Just tried again this morning before work quick, still the same issue....wtf :( temperature was around 74 in the room.

            Something is wrong. This is Wurth Silver wheel paint and clear lacquer and it looks OEM...



            It has metallic flake in it but it's very fine. Did you use several light coats sprayed with the can upright? Did you begin spraying off the wheel before going over it when you swept across the wheel side to side? The finish will be rough but not that rough. Then the clear "smooths" everything out. Your texture although a bit rough isn't a big deal but the color looks too dark.

            16x7.5 BBS weave resprayed with Wurth silver.


            Mine still has imperfections (high/low spots) that need to be addressed to be perfect but overall I am happy. You can only see them when looking closely at the wheel. From 5+ feet, they look new with the fresh paint.



            Very much worth it especially if you have tires mounted.

              Yes this metallic flake is not fine at all and you are right the shade is definitely not light enough, but where the paint splattered its brighter, like it should be.

              Yes I tried to do several light coats With the can upright and to the side. I started side to side but also trying to put a ring around some of the spokes, being a basketweave I didn't want to miss some parts. But yes the paint is rough. I have emailed wurth about it so I am waiting to hear back from them on if its defective?. I've spray painted before so I'm not a complete noob but I still have no idea what's wrong. After realized I would be sanding this weave again I have been trying to get the paint to lay correctly, which requires spraying in one spot to the point of runs. Which obviously isn't right.

              Appreciate the input!

                Are you spraying in the sun, or heat?

                It looks to me like the paint is drying before it hits the surface.

                  Spraying inside, 70-75 degrees. There's light coming through the window but not direct sunlight on the wheel or anything...

                    I experienced what you are experiencing when the nozzle was clogged, just starting to spray or running out of paint. I just sanded the heavy areas and resprayed light coats to achieve a uniform look. Painting weaves is a bit difficult to get a uniform coat everywhere but a can per wheel is too much.

                      How far away are you holding the can?

                      Inherently, silver metallics dry very fast. I've had similar results when the paint didn't hit the surface wet and was unable to flow.

                      Just brainstorming...

                        UPDATE: I tried spraying another wheel....and now it's working fine. :hitler:

                        Must of been too hot yesterday . Smh...I wasted a majority of a can. Lesson learned. Sorry for confusing you guys. Put when I initially tried it was no hotter then 80 but it still laid down like how you see all textury. That and the humidity...

                        I didn't realize that once the initial coat was f'ed, all coats after are pretty much worthless

                        Again thank you all to who posted. Indeed the silver metallic dries extremely fast.
