    I use a PC almost everyother day on customers cars before they leave the shop and it gets the job done nicely.

      Random orbit is the safest way if you are just maintaing your car. If you keep your car up you really don't need much better. The 1st time you do it it will take more time cause it doesn't work as hard as a direct drive, but once you have gotten the paint up to standards the random orbit maintains well. Random orbit is just easier cause you don't have to worry about edges and continually moving etc. If you are planning on detailing a lot of cars learn dd, but for your personal cars every few months or so stick with random.

        Basically, if your paint is crummy and you need to get deep down, get a direct drive. Else, go random which is much safer and easier.
