Wait, you didn't buy this yet? Sorry, but don't. You can find a car for not much more money that isn't as far gone as this car is. As others have said, the biggest problem with a car with rust like this is everything else is closer to ending up like that floor. You'll be chasing it for years. No matter which car you buy in the $1000-$1800 price range, you'll have plenty of small things to learn with as you fix it up.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? $500 is kind of steep since it probably won't even bring $300 for scrap.. And there isn't even $500 worth of parts there to part it out. Also, does the jack crush the frame rail on the drivers side when it's jacked up?

This is the same situation on my car. i just bought it. great looking car. didnt check rust before i bought it. bad mistake! driver floor pan is rusted out and my gas pedal went through the floor on a hard accelleration. good thing i got the car for a good deal. i plan on fixing this over winter. i bought a parts car to cut the floor pans out of
