Late model to early model apron/valance swap?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying a clean '87 325is, but would want to be able to swap the early apron/valance for late ones. I've been looking around and I know it's been done. I've read that to install the valance I would have to cut the tow hooks, but otherwise it's bolt-on. Haven't been able to find much on the rear apron, but it sounds like it would need to be modified in order to fit. Can anyone confirm this information?

    Thanks for your help.

The rear apron had to be welded/riveted etc. its parts of the body on late models, it would need be cut off late model then attached of early model in your choice of attachment.

Find a rust free (not excessively rusty, they almost all have some) late model at the pick n pull. Cut the ass end off with cut off wheels/sawzall. You could rivet it on, but I'd suggest welding it and seam sealing it for a proper job. If you don't have any experience doing that sort of thing it's going to be very challenging, but doable!

Ah, I see. That does sound challenging... Maybe more than I want to deal with right now.

          Thanks, guys! Appreciate your responses.

A little search will go a long way....

This topic has been beaten to death. Coupes and Sedans will require rear bumper modification. Convertibles, all years, are a direct bolt on swap for front and rear bumpers due to the convertibles having the same rear arch as an '88 and up coupe or sedan.
