Please help to de-stickerize my m3

The original owner of my m3 was a mexican, and his idea of detailing was slapping big thick vinyl stickers on scratches on the car. Old ass ugly 20 year old tribal vinyl stickers. I'll get picks soon but really need help getting them off. It's gonna be a while til it gets painted and this would make it look so much better. These stickers are like 1mm thick vinyl stuck with glue. They will not peel or scrape off.

We are going to need some pictures to properly evaluate the situation.

While waiting for pics, use PB Blaster.

Did you try using a heat gun? Or a steamer?

Will pb blaster or wd40 harm the paint? I thought they weren't good for paint. I don't know if a heat gun would work cuz the stickers are baked on by the desert sun in the first place

                        stickers

Patience is you first rule in doing this right. It may be an all day job. Use a heat gun on high but be very careful not to blister the paint. Peal an end up & apply the heat to the adhesive, NOT THE ViNYL. As the heat makes the adhesive hot you can pull up the edge of the sticker a little bit at a time Use 3M Adhesive Remover that will help in removing the glue residue. 3M also makes a vinyl stripe remover. Looks like a circular art eraser (@ 3" in diameter) & mounts to your drill motor. They are great but expensive & tend to self destroy after a little while.

Have you ever tried to remove double sided tape from factory on an ix that is 25+ yrs old. The only thing I found that worked was a heat gun.

What about removing window tint that someone had no clue what they were doing when they installed it and left it on there for 10yrs. The steam machine was the easiest and fastest way to remove it for me.

I have no experience removing stickers off of paint like that. But the closest things that are close to what you are working with are the double sided tape and the tint. I seriously doubt the WD40 and PB blaster will work.

And I don't have any experience with living in the desert but does your car's paint bubble from the heat? Most likely it doesn't but a heat gun will make your paint bubble if you hold it on too long. Good luck in you endeavors.

I've never had an issue with PB and paint, but it is true the stuff I remove from the race cars has only been there for a few years at most.

Heat gun and a plastic putty knife. Then a little acetone to clean up the residue.
