Hey guys, like the title says, i'm removing the hideous pin stripes on my E30. The car has been freshly re-painted roughly a year ago so they're not at all deteriorating onto the paint. The only issue is, they're leaving a little bit of residue behind. I've heard that using WD-40 will loosen it up and rub right off but i'm curious if there's a better method? Obviously polish/buff the area after removing the residue but is there anything better to use than WD-40? I've heard mixed opinions about goo-gone and i'm kinda scared to use it. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

It it is stick-on pin striping, get one of these:

I'd use goo-gone or a similar product to remove any glue residue. -
I've heard goo-gone has potential to damage the paint although unlikely. I'll try WD-40 and if that doesn't work well i'll give goo-gone a shot. Thanks for the advice brother.'93 E30 325ic - CURRENT | '99 E36 M3 - SOLD | '94 E34 530i - SOLD

I'll go ahead and give bug tar remover, what does the wax wheel do? Does it make it easier to remove the stripes or help protect the paint/body?'93 E30 325ic - CURRENT | '99 E36 M3 - SOLD | '94 E34 530i - SOLD

Wheel wax makes it easier to remove the stripes. I just did this today - stripes were ~30 years old (same as the car), wax eraser took them off in about 1.5hrs at a leisurely pace.
A couple of small paint flakes did come off but that might be because the paint was not original factory, so I'd say be careful if your car was recently painted.
