    Help! Massive rust. Need advice!

So I got my '84 325e in November of last year and I knew that the trunk was rusted out. Was easily fixable. Thought that that was the only rust in the car. Hoped that it was......part of me knew that it wasn't. Pulled the interior out this last weekend and got a nice surprise. The rear subframe mount, passenger side, is rusted away. It's my DD. Only way to get to work for the next month till I get my Guzzi home. Now sides that really bad rust the floor pans could be redone as well, needless to say there is a lot of rust aft of the firewall. Help.

It can be fixed, but your going to need another dd, you will have some serious time into that if you do it right. I would suggest stripping the back of the car down, driveline, gas tank, and rear suspension to make it easier to get to everything and it will make it easier to find the rust you haven't found yet.
    Best of luck

        1) Cut it out
        2) find more rust in structures underneath/behind
        3)Cut it out too
        4) Start fabricating or buying body parts.
        5) check petrolhead's project pics for reference
        6) Say no to POR

It looks like a lot but when you start cutting it out and you weld in your first replacement panel you'll feel a lot better having started this project. Don't get discouraged, I've seen a lot worse get repaired!
            The fun never ends :-?

My only really big question that I have is that how do the rear subframe mount up? I lost my Bentley guide. Is it like a sleeve that the bushing slides into, like something that I can use to mount a beef up plate for the top and bottom? I also don't know how to weld at all, nor know if I am able to do this much without getting in trouble with base housing.
