    Bumper Questions

I was following a 318is being auctioned on BAT recently, and some of the comments made me wonder if my understanding of E30 bumpers is incorrect. Here is what I've always thought.

    1. USA E30s only had 2 styles of bumpers: metal diving board and plastic.
    2. The ROW bumpers were different than USA bumpers throughout the full E30 run.

R3v experts - is this correct?

    Thanks, Cory

    ROW?
    1. Yes
    2. Plastic bumpers were almost the same, except the non-US ones didn't have side markers.

ROW = Rest Of the World, in other words, non-USA.

So, the shape and structure of all the plastic bumpers are the same? Does that mean that USA Euro late model front fenders are also the same?

      Thanks, Cory

Aren't all front fenders the same, late and early, coupe/vert/sedan/touring?

Plastic bumpers were the same with minor exception of that NA North America has side markers and ROW with a few exceptions did not.

Convertible and M3 front fenders are different from 2/4 door ones.

All U.S. spec early model E30's came with diving board bumpers as The U.S. had more stringent safety requirements. In the "ROW", early model E30s came with Chrome, or "Euro" bumpers. All late model e30's, (late 1988, early 1989---1991) shared the same plastic bumpers.

Not exactly. The convertibles had diving boards until mid 1991. Late 91 til end had plastics. The verts were strange. They had a similar rear wheel well as the late e30s but the rest of the body was early e30. They had the late engine setup too.
