Yeah, rust restoration is a total pain in the ass. I had rust in the SAME place (well, except on the other side of the car!). Essentially the accelerator pedal area was toast. I cut it all out and riveted in a patch panel, then coated it with POR15, then hit the undercarriage with undercoating spray. What a royal pain.
