Well i let it dry over night, got up and wet sanded it and buffed part of it out. It looked fine from 15' away but the closer you got to it it looked like shit, even if it was black. So i'm going to strip it down and spray bomb it. Like i said the hood was peeling bad so no harm lost.
I did my run to Home Depot today. I found quite a few colors.
Hunter Green, Safety Red... are among my favorites. If only Handicap Blue came in Oil based, and not Latex (for parking lots) They also had a little book with all the colors they could mix with the Masstone. I'm seriously doing it. I just have to pick a color. I want a color that equates pretty closely to Mauritius Blau Metallic, but I guess I would have to go to Paintscratch to get a perfect match. For $50-100, I'm willing to settle.
This is Navy, I think.

Bucket with measuring lines for proper ratio

so do you use house paint or automotive paint?!?!?
Try reading through the whole thread... You use Rustoleum (which is generally used for just about anything). Tractors, metal parts, outdoor furniture, etc.
Yeah, rustoleum is really tough paint. really durable. I'm trying to take it one step further and use an oil based clear coat in the same fashion as the paint.....
I'll keep you updated.
Question: is it best to do this kind of thing in the cold? or the warmth? i know that moisture is an issue, but the fact that you are painting cold metal. What effect does that have on the overall look/feel/ bla bla bla?
