never, this is my first time. I'm learning as i go and reading from what others have done.

I've spray painted before and have a basic knowledge of bodywork, but i'm really putting alot of detail and patience into it because painting it is 10% of the work (from my experience on this project). I'm being as thorough and meticulous as possible. Painting is the easiest part. You just have to feel it out and play it by ear.

According to Rustoleums page, that paint is alchyd base paint, which means it can't painted over with any automotive paint, or anything else than other alchyd paint...

So if you think you are ever going to repaint your car again, don't do this.

I hear that metallic paint doesn't work at all. Because when you wetsand, you sand out all the metallic flakes. and it doesn't come out very smooth... read the first 8 pages of the mopar thread somewhere earlier

For those of you worrying about a clear coat, don't. If the aint is an enamel. Enamel is one of the strongest paints in existance. Don't bother with the clear coat.

Yeah, it is an acrylic enamel and is really strong as it is. I was more concerned with Shine than durability for the purpose of clear coating it.

                  Ah, that's understandable.
Looking at the Toyota with the polish, I would say you can get that look with a lot of work...or at least it looks that way.

I thought about doing a first "base" of white, wetsanding, then spraying metallic over that, then rollering clear for 4 coats with the wetsanding stages.

Then I thought I would be spending about 2.3 million hours on it.

If I want better than just a single color "driver" look, I will have it professionally painted.

BTW, I do own a big air compressor, 2 HVLP guns, and several normal guns. The mess and hassle make it not worth the hassle.

I might be willing to try a few different techniques on a fender. I'm pretty intrested in the fake look. But looks like some others have tried a few ways already....yeah it doesn't look good for the metal flake idea.
