I wonder what the stock hood and this weighs...
if you are looking for weight savings then don't waste your time on the VIS hood. it's only 5-10lbs lighter than the stock hood, hardly worth it and we all know about the fitment. the mashaw CF hood is much lighter, only about 10lbs and their composite version is 12lbs. the VIS hood is about 26lbs and the stock one is just over 30.

I was quoted $775 shipped for their composite hood..

I can get you a Getty E30 CF hood for $600 plus shipping. 12lbs and uses stock hardware. Getty makes the best FRP/CF products for Porsche and the BMW stuff is top notch. Great fit and finish.

Get a IE fiberglass hood and have it painted to match. Much lighter.

6 lbs isn't "much lighter" to me

not to mention nobody has any idea how the IE hoods fit. considering the quality of some of their products, I wouldn't be willing to take the gamble.

Is that a confirmed weight for the VIS hood? My VIS hood seems much much lighter than my stock hood.

That IE hood looks paper thin from some pics I have seen... I would really doubt that hood.... at least the VIS one is fairly rigid even though its fit is questionable...
