Make sure your using the right grits or sandings a bitch. 80 for filler, 400 for primer.
Make sure that your first step is good before you move onto your next step! you will not be able to fix what is underneath with the next step!!! Get the filler shaped properly before moving onto high build primer. Sure you can spray primer on and sand with say 220 to see where your hi and low spots in the filler are. I'd use sealer primer for this. But until you've gotten a good shape with the filler do not try to move onto the high build primer/guide coating stage. You will not be able to fix mistakes in the filler with other product. Take your time getting each stage right before you move onto the next or it will turn out like crap.
