Also I need to bondo some spots and thats the biggest reason he said it would be a lot more than I expected. I haven't worked with bondo before so I really dont' know what to expect.

Also does anyone know if the front IS air dam is plastic? I have heard it was plastic then I heard it was metal. It bends like plastic but if it is thin metal it could probably bend sort of like plastic.

    Actually is it rubber?

And guess who is the treasurer? My brother...haha.

I would do more with the mechanical side of things but I want to do things that are out of my range minus the suspension. Is is really necessary to do anything maybe exept a chip/exhaust/other little things to a vert. If I could I would turbo it but I could almost buy another e30 for what I am going to spend on it. Alex so since you want me to do it myself, I will be down next weekend with 2 pieces of 80 grit paper..haha
You honestly don't need to use a spray booth. Your side yard will work out just as good for you. A paint booth isn't infallable, there are still many ways to get things into the paint, even in a booth. You might get a few things in the paint (even in your side yard), but you can use 2000-2500 grit, wet sand, and you won't even be able to tell that there was something in the paint.

oh, i would ask the guys on the autobodystore forums how to prep the rubber

considering you need paint with a good flex agent, this is critical

Wouldn't that help with the process? I am probably just going to start sanding with 80 grit with most materials so maybe I will get started this weekend.

naw i wouldn't think it would

I Would use a DA with 50 grit on it to take it down to rubber...then prep and paint like normal with a good flex agent

You think the last 2 would be good? Could I do the 50 grit and the 80 grit with this?

                              Maaco is a no no.

Try any body shop, prep the air dam yourself.

Shit Fedex the stuff to me and I will do it all.

                              $325 + return shipping
The best base/ clear paint job will be exponentially better than the rattle can Maaco uses, and not cost much, if any, more. [for such a small job!]

How about just the air dam? I would really consider this.
