Help: i think i need a body solution... (skyline E30)

Let me preface this by saying I know NOTHING about the BMW aftermarket or even OEM stuff. I've heard the term Mtec, that's it. Before you dismiss me, Know that I am very mechanically apt. But when it comes to body stuff, I do not know a lot.

    This is my car:

    This is my engine:

Alright, so, if you have any questions about the project itself, go here:

Basically, i want my car to look nice.

I apparently have "old style" bumpers. I have purchased Ireland Engineering fender flares. I think I am going to rivet those on, as opposed to molding them in, for a "racier look"

I don't want to do a TON of body work, but some is alright. I was thinking about leaving the door trim flat black, painting the plastic bumper trim body color, then painting the chrome on the bumper black. People keep telling me that the rear bumper looks like crap.

I am not opposed to buying a bodykit, especially if it means i don't need to screw around with trying to find good condition OEM bumper trim... mine is a bit beat up...

Basically, i just need someone to tell me what to buy, and where to buy it. I don't have a ton of time to devote to searching and researching a million bodykit options. I am not a huge fan of the BMP bumpers... Local (toronto/buffalo) is preferred.

    THANKS!!!

Wow, that car's going to be a beast. What kind of power does an RB26 have turbocharged?

Welcome to the forum. Good to have another turbo-brotha

Well, After looking at your thread on the other forum, I gotta tell you. You have a great setup that was 100% pure fabrication and I gotta respect for you for doing that, but in all honesty you picked probably the shittiest straight shell of an E30 i could think of.

I'm looking to put down 550-600 whp on the stock block, probably 700 on C16. New pistons and a HG will get me closer to 800 on pump, but that's on the verge of being unstreetable. GTR motors are easy to build 1000+ whp

any advice on the car? I heard something about a guy who makes mtec replica kits in toronto...

OMFG can I have your babies? Serious question.

Seems to me like you want to "JDM" the car out with the tough racer look as opposed to the clean look. There might be a few things out there that'll work fine. Is the car supposed to be a sleeper at all?

i just want it to look "sweet"

i don't care if it's euro, JDM, whatever. But name brands mean nothing to me, so i don't care if it's an AC snitzer or reiger, or whatever, i just want some good looks, :)

Are you going to put the interior back together to look like a semi-daily driver at all or is it going to be pure race?

I mean, that you had so much rust on that body.. you could have saved alot of time by getting a cleaner body. You did repair alot of panels. Unless you got the shell for free, then I can't complain. :)

the shell was 400 bucks. The rust is all taken care of. It only took about a week, It really wasn't bad, also, it's MUCH cleaner in person. The camera really brings out the rust.

I will only drive the car on weekends. I have an 06 STi and an 05 elise that need road time too.

I am going to put door cards and a dash back in and carpet the floor. It IS getting a full 10 point cage, though. These cars are so flexy.

He's getting Work wheels, how is that not following a JDM trend? lol

Anywho, I'd say look around for these names:

                    Rieger GTS
                    Rieger Infinity
                    Mtech 1
                    Mtech 2
                    AutoVogue AV3
                    AC Schnitzer
                    Racing Dynamics
                    Zender
                    Breyton
                    Alpina

Those companies (the 2nd word is basically the kit itself) all make different kits for e30s, some are more rare and expensive to find than others. It's up to you so you can find what you like and go from there.

A plastic bumper conversion is always a popular choice and it makes the car look great with the older taillights.

Up to me... see, that's what kills me, is there anything local I can pick up soon?

hmm, plastic pumper conversion... meaning a bumper from 88+? Can I do that?
