    paintscratch.com compatiable with any primer/clear?

I'll be painting some small parts, and was wondering if I really *have to* buy the paintscratch.com primer and clear? Can I use a good rattle can brand?

What color are you painting stuff, what parts are they, and how bad do you want them to match?

E28 mtech 1 rear spoiler to start with, if that turns out well, a iS lip. It was my understanding that the paintscratch.com paint was a exact match? No? Car is zinno

I've used them twice - royalblau metallic and Sterlingsilber metallic. Its a pretty good match, but you have to remember that (especially with reds) your car has some amount of fading to it.

For small things like you are doing, should be decent.

It's matched to the paint the way it looked from the factory. Zinno has a tendency to turn into "pinkarot" over the years.

My question is, can I use a quality primer and clear coat I can get locally? Or did you guys go with the stuff at paintscratch.com?

What coverage can I get out of one can? A "iS" lip? two "iS" lips? ect...

the primer and clearcoat you get is just basic automotive stuff anyway.. I think they sell SEM primer and duplicolor clear (last time I ordered anyway). I wouldn't worry about buying their stuff, as long as you get the same types of paint you should be fine.

one can should be able to do about 2 is lips with a few coats each.

You also might want to considder buying from towerpaint.com . They are larger cans and cost less. If you compare the cost per ounce, it is half the price of paintscratch.
