    I usually do an X pattern on the pad.


    And by cleaning, i mean get a cloth rag, hold it over the pad still on the machine polisher, and turn it on. It raises the face on the pad, and removes residues.

        All this information is great, how about this -

        Now that we generally understand the concepts of paint restoration, can we get one of you more experienced guys to put together a shopping list for the beginner who wants to do the job correctly?

        This would include the specific brands and quantities needed for the job...

          I like to use a brother brand of pinnacle. They are relatively cheap and easy to work with.

              Im sure this sounds like a newbie question but what do you mean by "QD" when you refer to removing the excess with a mf and qd? im about to get into this for bimmer fest prep

                        This thread is pretty dead, but I have started moving into detailing pretty heavily.

                        Have a great grasp on techniques, steps, products, etc.
