    Painting Eurostyle Rieger-replica lip

Hey all, I want to get my Eurostyle front lip painted and installed, and I'd like to just do it myself, but I'm not going to bust out the paint gun amd go drop $50 on a pint of paint to just paint that. I want do just do it using some simple products, I'm just wondering how to go about doing it. The Eurostyle lip is some kind of composite fiberglass, with what looks like some kind of a black gelcoat just brushed over the outside.

I was thinking about just hitting it with Krylon Fusion, which is this new Krylon paint made specifically for plastics, and it's supposed to be really tough. They make a deep gloss black, and I want to just do it this way so if it gets scratched up or whatever, I can just pull it off and do it again. My question is, will this stuff bond to the material the lip is made of? Or should I sand and primer it first, and then just use either that or another product?

defintely sand it. The gelcoat will keep anything from bonding to it at all... gotta sand that off with high grit paper. Priming isnt necessary but if u happen to scratch it will sanding gelcoat off, Id hit it with one or two coats of build primer.

I would block it with 400 wet and paint it. My is lip I just sanded with 320 dry and shot it with SEM, since I like the black lip look.

block it for sure.. it's pretty flat though.

I would use some primer, the material the lip is made out of is actually transparent.. your car is black so you can get away with using some SEM trim paint or something similar.

just watch out for possums... :(

I was actually considering going satin black on it, since the lower part of my rear apron is satin black. I might try it, and if I don't like it, I'll do it again with gloss.
