Early vs newer air duct mounting differences

Do the 88/89+ cars have an extra item or anything in the engine compartment where the brake ducts mount to ?

Here is how the older brake duct looks like on my 84 - notice how it covers the area completely and protects the steering rack boots.

As you can see the older ones are much bigger and have slightly different mounting points, so my question is am I missing something else or they just won't fit w/o some modification ?

The later ones (1989-91) fit the front panel that goes with the plastic bumpers. The opening at the front is beside the fog lights and is square. At least that's what it looks like. The older models have a different opening in the front panel below the bumper.

I understand the opening part. I'll have to just go and look under an 89+ car and see.

Is the fender lining different on early vs. late cars ?

ttt. could someone please post a picture of the inside front passenger or driver side fender ? I want to make sure what I need to order.

Well, I figured it out. I am missing a plastic cover of some kind that sits right below/infront of the engine. The inner sides of the brake ducts attach to that, now if I could figure out what the part number is on this sob I could order it...

What is supposed to be there, what's the pn for it ?

Yea part 10 sorry. Who knows, I need to see it in person so I can get a part number off it, or take it off a junker.

Does anybody have a picture of "e30 m3 belly pan" ? I think that was the name of the post, I can't find it but remember seeing it, 3 pictures including the part number.

Can you post the part number for the large center piece?! I am just trying to make sure its the same one I have on my list of parts to get. And what type of E30 did that come off of?

On my GF's '89 325i, that big plastic piece is PN:57.71-1961.999.0

However, the ducts do NOT mount directly to that panel, but there is a section of fender liner that mounts to that big piece, then mounts to the fender.

The ducts slip into those.
