Another roller paint job (56k warning)

I know that mineral spirits was the prefered method of thinning with the rustoleum. I didnt find much info about using it in the interlux paint. That is what I was wondering about.

Jex, my biggest issue with silver is that the roller job requires wetsanding and lots of polishing to look good, and most silver paints have plenty of metal flake in them... right?

If not, I may give some silvers a try...

Im under the impression you cant add metallics to this paint. When applying metallics they have to lay down a certain way to reflect evenly, if you roll it on they wont. You pretty much have to stick to solid colors.

And to the OP, are you sanding between coats? Your paint doesn't look as smooth as some of the other work Ive seen.

I tried metallic, it does not turn out well at all.

I still haven't made any progress on the pain job since the last time. Its been so long I had to wash the car yesterday. So I took some close up pics in the sun.

Been driving around with masking tape on the car for a month now


Still no sanding or polish. Just the way it came off the roller.


The sunroof has been sanded and polished by hand, the rest of the roof is rough


The trunk lid needs another coat. You can see the lines where the paint is still too thin

Hopefully I get the metal below the bumper painted before the end of the month... hopefully. I'm leaving the original diamond swarz as is between the tail lights.

As you can see, its still a work in progress. To be continued.

very nice good to see someone is doing this. i just roller painted a fender with alpine white 2 and it came out very nice. your car looks awesome. keep up the good work and definitely do the valences ASAP. get a lip, and in a month no one will tell its roller painted.

8 months and 8000 miles later, I finally gave the car another wash.









I still need to paint the areas below the bumpers, put another coat of paint on the trunk lid and rear 1/4s and finish it all off with a sand and polish. Eventually I'll get to it... I swear. Theres a few stone chips here and there but otherwise the paint is still solid.
