    Welding...anyone ever fry a computer?

I need to to some light MIG welding.

Are there any precautions I need to take to prevent frying anything? If I MIG weld a few beads will the car electronics be safe??

    Thanks,
    Hoveringuy

If you are really worried about it +1 on disconnecting the bat. Modern electronics are pretty reliable. I haven't seen one fry personally from welding. But don't take ur chances.

Don't be a lazyass, just unhook the battery & your ecu. I have heard of ecu's working, but not like they SHOULD - after someone didn't unhook it.

Unless you have an extra brainbox or a couple hundred, that is.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

          Hey Backtrail,

Nice to see you're from Anacortes. I still have a house there.

I have orders to Bremerton and can't wait to get out of DC, especially after the BS $100 parking ticket I got in the district tonight!

I always undo the battery as well as the ABS and injection brains. Takes only seconds, and assures I don't have nightmares awaiting.

Born and Raised. I live in Bellingham currently, and probably for the next couple years at least. I am a Sophomore @ Western. Who knows where I will end up, i guess where ever the job market takes me. Two of my cars, all my tools and many spare parts are in Anacortes though..
