its all speculation from every1 here unless you have seen it in person. possibilities for shit from VIS are endless, but who knows, maybe they got their hands on an OE hardtop and made CF copies, which could be pretty cool for cabby owners @only $500. some1 with a cabby bite the bullet and buy one.

I believe its an overlay, not an actual hardtop.

That probably fits like shit, plus you would have to get glass, and I bet it doesn't come with a headliner either. Just buy an oem hardtop.

    LOL at this this thread.

To answers some question - and clean up some inside/bad jokes..

There is no such thing as a 4-door cab.

The VIS hood looks ok from 20 feet away - from 10 feet away, you can see that the hood near the door is "bent" - and the gaps between the fenders and the hood are 10-12mm wide where factory would be 5 or 6mm.

I SWEAR that that they used a bent stock hood for the mold.

if you take an e30 cab to any race event you have to have a roll bar and the top down so this would be useless for any track

Never heard or even seen an E30 4 door cabrio!! Post pics if you got 'em!

Anyway, I've had the idea of buying an OEM hardtop and getting a carbon fiber overlay. Possibly painted or unpainted, but don't know if it can be done.

You have got to be kidding me

VIS RACING STATES THAT THESE CARBON FIBER HARD TOPS DO NOT COME WITH INSTALATION INSTRUCTION, AND THAT THEY ARE TO BE INSTALLED AT A BODY SHOP. THEY FURTHER STATE THE BODY SHOP WILL KNOW HOW TO FABRICATE THE MOUNTING HARDWARE AND WEATHER SEALS. THESE ARE DESIGNED FOR CONVERTABLE APPLICATIONS. THEY ARE DESIGNED TO ACCEPT OEM SIZE REAR GLASS. VIS RACING RECCOMENDS LEXAN BE FABRICATED TO FIT REAR WINDOW AS BEST OPTION, BUT NOT ALWAYS NECCESSARY.

I was not discussing the product itself, but rather how it is "marketed"

I already know that VIS is covering itself by having the customer agree he is loosing all his rights by entering their website. But that's another discussion.

the seller says he gets a special product line directly from VIS.....I just thought it might be nice to completely ditch the folding assy. and put in a cage with a CF roof.... might save a little weight....now to just reinforce the rear and remove the convertible's bath-tub....
