    Antenna blank question...

The brother and I were discussing this one today. We're both familiar with the radio blanks for super base, early model E30's (316i/d, 320i, etc.) Does this also mean that the had a blank for the antenna as well? I searched ETK and wasn't able to find such blank. I ask this because if/when I swap on the E30 M3 antenna, I'd prefer not to fill in that hole, but instead use that blank if it is available.

Anyone have any ideas about that one?

I've never seen nor heard of a blank. My guess is that there simply wasn't a hole in the sheet metal there, or there was some sort of metal disc that was welded and blended into the rear fender.

Plastic plug from your local hardware store's nut-n-bolt drawers works perfectly and is barely noticeable.

There is one. If you paint it with touchup paint, it can be as sexy as mine...

It's not as pretty as it looks in the pic but good enough for me. [shit, that's not saying a lot]

I can't take credit though... the tooth fairy told me about this at an AFB.

                  Thanks Heeter, you're my idol.

Edit: Waaait, a minute, that's a hoodstop. Am I missing something there? It fits perfectly, no leaks or anything?

Fits perfect. Didn't have leaks for a while. You can seal it from the bottom, but it looks real clean regard.

Looks great 50 at 50. Looks even greater for $2.

i put an Audi plug in mine then sealed it with dumb gum from the bottom. if you don't want to do the hood stop thing it is another option. the plug is prob at least $5 though. i can pull it and give the part # if you want it.
i just happened to have it in my tool box from something i fixed

Eh, yeah I didn't know if very base models had some sort of blank over them. Well, if I ever get around to doing the E30 M3 antenna conversion, I might just weld a piece of metal over the hole.

der affe, any pictures of how that looks on the car?

To answer your question NO there wasn't a radio blank. Factory service manuals spell out the procedure for installing an antennae in a car that did not come with one. Including are measurements for drilling the hole....
