Mtech 2 skirt on Vert without side pods

Does anyone have any info/ideas/pics regarding mtech 2 side skirts on a coupe or convertible without adding the side pods? I would like to install the side skirts on my vert but dont want to use any side pods as i do not have the rest of the kit. And no i will not but the rest of the kit because my car is already going to look very similar to corvallisBMWs;) A few questions i have are

1: Do the side skirts have any mounting points above the rocker panels that would normally be covered by the side pods that would be left exposed if the side pods were not used? (forgive me for the run-on sentence)

2: How much more would the side skirts stick out of the body than the factory trim? The factory trim above the rocker panel on a vert already sticks out nearly an inch but would the skirts stick out even more?

3: Is this just a stupid idea and there are alot better looking and easier to find skirts available for the convertible?

The only pic i could find over the vast expanses of the interwebs.
If anyone else has one PLEASE post up!

I think the side skirts on the car in the photo are most likely fiberglass which have been trimmed to fit closer to the body.

If you use genuine m-tech II side skirts without the door pods then the skirts will stick out about 1 - 1.5 inch from the body and I think it would look awkward.

I'll try to find some pics that show what un-modified m-tech II skirts look like installed without the door pods, and you'll see what I mean.

So if you want to install m-tech II skirts without the door pods then I think you're going to want fiberglass ones that you can trim.

Eurostyle in Canada used to make some but I don't believe he is producing fiberglass parts anymore.

Here's a cabrio with Eurostyle's fiberglass skirts installed:

    Anyway to answer your questions:

    1) Yes, there are mounting points that the door pods cover up
    2) The genuine skirts will create a "ledge" which I'd estimate sticks out 1.5" - 1.75"
    3) Either install the genuine skirts with the door pods or buy fiberglass replicas that you can modify.

The only other vert skirts that sometimes pop-up are the AC Schnitzers, like which Vlad installed on his latest red vert. You may also be able to find m-tech 1 skirts that work with a vert.

Other than that you have to modify coupe skirts. is skirts can be made to fit if you install them under the lower rocker panel trim. See here

Well whatever skirts i put on i want to eliminate that lower trim piece that is right above the rocker on convertibles. Tall toronto guy used coupe skirts so thats why the trim piece is left correct? I also dont want to put on skirts that would hinder access to the factory jacking points as i need a factory jack to lift my car up to put my floor jack under my car. Hopefully i can get my hands on a low profile jack soon.

and the blue is interlogus blue? I think that is how you spell it, it was stripped and resprayed.

The mtech II vert skirts have a long tab that it uses to mount it to the front fenders the rest of it uses clips.

Where the rub strip is it would need to be removed and holes drilled on none mtech cars to mount the brackets that the skirt mounts too.

Without the side pods the skirt will come out about an inch from the panel but I think it wouldn't look to bad if you cut the front top brackets off flush and fill the slots the rear pod locks into.

the difference between the vert and non vert skirts is the length top to bottom the verts are about an inch longer. and the top lip that sits against the body is a little longer as well since where the rubber strip is goes in a little bit.

Good luck with the mod it should look good if you decide to do it.

When I get home I can take pictures of the vert skirts I have off the car so you can see what I mean.
