It is. And like I said, you can see the tail lights perfectly fine. Followed him the other day in day light and you could see his break lights like they weren't even painted.

Ok, after not getting any responses from Brewcity11, I've decided to give a crack at it to DIY smoke my taillights. From listening to people and how they did it, it seems like people are mixing black paint and clear coat then using a spray gun to paint the taillights??'91 Brilliantrot 318iS - Sold

Ive smoked plenty of VW lenses by painting the INSIDE of the lens. I pull the lens, put the paint can tip close to the bulb hole as possible and shoot paint inside the lens. Hold it with the lens down and swoosh the paint around inside till the inside is coated. It took me a few times to get it to look OK, but they were VW lenses and easy enough to replace if they came out shitty. Be careful not to put too much paint in or it will run. I used black engine enamel from the local parts store. I would not do it to my E30 tails, but if you were asking, I figured I would share.
