The proper patch job is done using a piece of top fabric and just cementing it to the underside of the top. Probably any convertible top shop will throw a patch on for ya for next to nothing......takes 2 min's.
My old top lasted a couple of years using patches.........but I live in the tropics where we get rain at least once a day. I finally got a new top last Dec.

cool, the hole is in the area where you have to fold the small bar to the opposite side when your putting your top down. I noticed both areas are pretty messed up from the inside. anyone else have this problem, or am I just folding it wrong?Renting my rear wheel bearing tool kit. SIR

It's odd I don't remember having to fold the top there when we first got the car, but now I do guess I just don't remember. On the first top the car had there was a cut where a thief knifed the top to break in. We bought industrial thread & used a piece of canvas on the inside & had it sewn in. it held without leaking for 2 years until another thief broke in the rear window & we replaced the top.

Typically cloth tops form holes along the seams due to the stretching of the fabric over the frame. No matter where the holes are, the patches can be placed under them. In a place like the metroplex, this should last a very long time due to low rainfall.

There is a bar in front of the rear window that when the top is folded moves forward, I have to push it back (like the window goes forward) to properly fold the top. I don't remember having to do that for the first like 10 years we had the car) Maybe it happened after the top was replaced & I didn't noitice until now.
