    Plastic window install questions

My power window motors have failed but its ok because I want to take them out for weight and to prevent future hastle. I want to install plastic windows possibly with a locking clip system of sorts. What I mean is tabs or something that would keep the windows up but also allow me to unlock them and slide them down. I don't really want to mess with cranks as I will be taking the door cards off and running bare metal. Does anyone know of any system like this or am I completely on my own with custom fab?

why do people do this to daily drivers? take a dump before getting in your car will save you roughly the same weight.

Not really an issue of weigh as much as money

If you try to use lexan for the front windows, they will get all scratched up from raising and lowering them.

is this so you can win a trophy for your light to light racing?

how much could used power window motors be, $20? I sold a guy a whole door for $40.

It will be cheaper and less hastle just to fix the exisiting windows. Something about your signature suggests this is mainly for wait savings. Save it for a track car where you don't need side windows at all. Makes things simple. These hybrid "track"/street cars never seem to go as planned. Next thing you know, you are out of high school, have matured a little, and wish you hadn't hacked up your otherwise nice IS back in the day. I've gone through it as well as many others on here I'm sure.

This sucks, although I should've known to put a flame suit on, I just wanted an answer to a question. Oh and I bought the car gutted so I'm just going to roll with it. Biting criticism is fun, but I'd like some info and I'm sure that someone here has it. And if not, off to another forum for that answer.

                      you already got your answer.

                      And that advice is good.

But it's not an answer unless it's the answer he wants to hear.

He doesn't want an answer to his question, he wants people to tell him that his plan is a good idea, and it's what they'd do.

To answer your question, the ones I have seen IIRC slide up and have a slot cut out of the bottom of the lexan. There is a strap that goes through the slot in the lexan and wraps around or snapps onto the door panel/cage/etc. When not using window you simply unstrap the bottom, slide down and remove window. Window use was only for towing from what I remember as well as storage. This was on a dedicated e30 M3 track car my teacher raced.
