    Shadow line

I have seen a few minicoopers that used black electrical tape to black out the chrome, looked pretty good. Anyone have any clues about how the tape would hold up to the elements?

There is one guy on bimmerforums that used electrical tape for his shadow line. It looked pretty good in the pic. I don't know how well it would hold up to the elements though. It's easy enough to do, so if it starts to wear, just retape it. I was going to remove the trim and and paint it when I paint my car, but I was thinking about doing this as a temporary shadowline.
    Here is the thread:

It'll dry out and fade. And then you will be left with terribly nasty black residue all over your trim.

I used the special blackout tape, and regretted it BIG TIME. It's "ok" if you want to see how it will look before you paint it, but that's it. SEM trim paint is your friend.

I don;t know about SEM, but Autozone near me had Duplicolor, which I have used on other parts with good success.

A local bayarea guy did the tape thing, but carbon fiber print... It looks ok far away but up close it looks really bad... you can see the ends of the tape and the curve part looks funny.
Maybe people can make them look good with different type of tapes?

The rest of his car is very nice minus the ebay stuff on it.

Painting it isn't that hard. There are write ups on how to do it.
